First Reconciliation Program

First  Reconciliation Information

Thursday 18th March 2021 at 7 pm

Dear Families,

Your child is welcome to receive the Sacrament of Penance (Reconciliation) this year, and it is important that you feel very much part of the preparation program, so that you can share in this special time with your child.

We invite you to join us at the following occasion to be part of the preparation for this special experience in your child’s faith development.

Children Praying

The dates that follow are COVID restriction dependent. Any ceremonies in the church have very strict attendance limits. We will contact you with any changes.

Class Dates & Times:

There will be 3 classes and one practice for the children – on Mondays, 15th, 22nd February & 1st March from 4pm- 5.15pm. Classes will be in the Parish Centre, 345 Burwood Road (off Lynch St, next to Billy Lids).

The final session will be a practice on Monday 15th March, 4pm – 5.30pm in the church. Children will need to bring their pencil cases to all classes.

Children will bring home a ‘reconciliation worksheet’ each week. This will be used to complete homework activities which support the sacramental classes. There will also be opportunities for them to share a short prayer and/or reflection with their families over the course of the preparation. This could be done together before a meal or at bedtime. We see this sharing as an important part of their faith development. We would appreciate your support and encouragement of your child by being involved at home with this aspect of the program.

To cover costs, we ask that each family contribute $80.00 per child.  This fee covers the cost of the classes, worksheets, certificates, etc. This fee is payable on registration via Trybooking - see link below

Baptismal Certificate

A copy of your child’s Baptismal Certificate will need to be sighted by me (and a copy taken) before classes commence.   N.B. I won’t need a baptismal certificate if your child was baptised at the Hawthorn Parish, but please indicate this on the form.

The Hawthorn Parish promotes the safety and well-being of children.

Our policies and procedures can be found on our website at

COVID safety procedures are mandatory at all Parish events.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thank you.
